Airsoft vs Simunitions
Advance Law Enforcement Academy has been utilizing Airsoft weapons and accessories in its courses for the past 15 years. Now we have opened of indoor/outdoor center MTAC Michigan Tactical Airsoft Center. We have trained law enforcement and military professionals with Airsoft training platforms all over the world. Our extensive experience in providing tactical “force on force” training utilizing Airsoft weapons has proven that Airsoft has some exciting and distinct advantages over the use of Simunitions™ weapons for “force on force” training for military and law enforcement professionals. First of all let’s dispel some existing misconceptions related to Airsoft weapons that either was never true or are no longer true.
Misconception: Airsoft weapons are cheap plastic toys and do not have the same feel and function as law enforcement or military training weapons. Airsoft weapons come in several different metal variations that duplicate the weight and feel of duty and tactical weapons used by today’s law enforcement and military professionals. Gas blowback Airsoft pistols function almost identical to the real thing even creating similar recoil during slide recoil.
Misconception: Airsoft weapons are not dependable and break and malfunction frequently Airsoft weapons for the last several years have now evolved and are being engineered to last just as long or longer as traditional force on force weapons. They in fact malfunction much less that traditional force on force weapons because there is no gun powder or primer powder being utilized to fire the training projectile resulting in less malfunctions do to carbon fouling to the barrel and moving parts.
Misconception: QUALITY Airsoft weapons are too expensive Very realistic in form, feel and function; AND very dependable Airsoft weapons are more than HALF of the cost of traditional style force on force training weapons. Additionally they are less than 2% of the cost to operate for training projectiles and gas than that of traditional style force on force weapons.
